Holiday Club FAQ

Frequently asked questions about our Holiday Club

Our FAQ’s should give you a good guide to everything you need to know about our Busy Lizzies Holiday Club at Simon Balle, but do get in contact with us if you need more information…

We are Open to all schools, and run both a Holiday Club and Sports Club in the October and February half terms, Easter holidays and the first 3 week of the summer holidays.

The majority of our team, work across our Ofsted rated Outstanding Nursery and Wrap care settings in Hertford throughout the year and so have an abundance of childcare qualifications and experience.  Our team are one of our many great strengths and they attend regular safeguarding training and are all cleared by the Disclosure and Barring Service at the Enhanced level.

We offer two sessions, 8.30am-5pm and 9am-3pm. Drop off/Pick up areas are clearly sign posted and staff will be on hand to assist. All children must be dropped off and register and advise of any additional information regarding your child at that time.

When completing your registration forms you can add people who you wish to allow to collect your child. There is also a password to enhance security which can be used for one off collections.

A named water bottle.

Children should dress in comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather conditions, They should wear trainers, no heels or flip flops. We would suggest a spare set of clothes as accidents do happen, or we may have a water fight! Please label clothes clearly and please leave valuables at home as staff are unable to look after a child’s possessions.

Children should have sun protection already applied before they arrive in the morning and ensure they have sun lotion in their bag. Please be mindful that staff will remind children to re-apply sun protection but are not permitted to rub sun protection onto children. We therefore suggest spray-on sun protection.

All children should bring in a packed lunch, this should contain no nuts or fizzy drinks. We would suggest a small ice pack is included as we do not have refrigeration facilities.  We encourage children to drink plenty of fluids and have a water station where children can re-fill their water bottle.

Re-cap – Named water bottle, packed lunch free from nuts (please check ingredients in any treats), trainers, sensible appropriate clothing and sun protection.

We need to know of any medical conditions your child has when you make the booking and in some cases we may ask for additional information with regards to child’s needs. If there are any changes to your child’s medical needs since your original booking, please email us. If your child needs medicine administered while in our care, there are forms to be completed.

If your child carries an EpiPen or inhaler these should be handed over to a member of staff each morning, please check they are in date. Please note your child cannot attend, if these are not in our possession. Please name them clearly and put in a clear plastic bag which can be sealed such as a sandwich bag.

It is rare that a child experiences anything worse than a grazed knee or bump that requires a cold compress and a cuddle. However, we have team members who are pediatric first aid trained who can assist with any minor accidents and illnesses. In the unlikely event that something more serious occurs you will be contacted immediately.

We are confident that most children will love attending our holiday and sports club. However, we understand that some children may be reluctant to start the day and in these circumstances we suggest you leave your child in our experienced and capable hands and we will contact you to advise how they are settling that morning. If you wish to check on your child’s wellbeing throughout the day, please call the mobile number that will be in your welcome pack.
